The YGTLC organizing committee is currently calling for all technical or leadership presentations and articles by professionals, academics, and students. Over a hundred highly-motivated young professionals and students are expected at the YGTLC to present technical research or innovations in their field, participate in career and leadership development and networking sessions, and listen to speeches from distinguished industry and academic leaders.
Travel support and free lodging and meals for the three-day conference in the Washington D.C. metro area will be provided for all active participants. The travel support includes partial airfare reimbursements for participants outside of 300 miles of Washington D.C. (approximately up to $175 from the West Coast, $150 from the Midwest, and $125 from the East Coast) and ground travel mileage reimbursement for participants within 300 miles (carpool information will be available).
Awards and prizes will be given to outstanding lectures and poster presentations and essays. Last year’s winners received up to $100. All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings.
Eligibility
- Demonstrated interest in issues related to 1.5 and 2nd generation Korean-American scientists and engineers.
- Professionals, academics, and students (professional/graduate or undergraduate junior/senior) in their 30s and 20s.
- Current members of KSEA.
Application Instructions
Unlike many other conferences, we ask that each of the participants be active participants, and contribute to the conference program. We encourage this because we feel that our best resources are the participants themselves. This is also a requirement to receive financial support. Additionally, awards and prizes will be given to the best submissions. There are many avenues for participation:
Career and Leadership Program
- Participate as a mentor to other participants.
- Run a workshop or present a poster related to career development or leadership.
- Write a personal essay about your experiences, and share valuable lessons and experiences, to be published in the program booklet.
- Participate as a president of a KSEA student chapter or as a young generation representative of a KSEA local chapter.
Technical Program
- Present a lecture or a poster of emerging research topics, new trends in industry, or scientific topics of general interest.
- Write a survey paper of emerging research topics, new trends in industry, or scientific topics of general interest, to be published in the program booklet.
Additional information can be found in the Application Instructions page. Each avenue requires additional supplementary material to complete your application. If you select the mentoring avenue, please choose one other alternate avenue as the program committee will choose the choice that best meets the needs of the conference.
